An act of kindness by a police officer in Connecticut, Ansonia that became popular on social media changed the life of a young boy.
Wendelyn Narvaez, the boy’s grandma, wrote on Facebook about her grandson, who was selling lemonade. At the same time, cop Joel Perez came up to him.
A post on the Ansonia Police Department’s Facebook page says that Officer Joel Perez was a military police officer before he joined the Ansonia Police Department in March.
The officer was talking with the boy when he asked him what he would do with the money from the sales. Landen told the officer that he would buy a pair of blue trainers for school with the money he made from the lemonade stand.
From there, Perez went away and returned with a new pair of blue trainers for the boy. Narvaez put a picture of that time on her Facebook page and wrote, “Landen was shocked and couldn’t believe it.”
After Perez’s kindness went viral on social media, Ansonia Police Chief Wayne Williams wrote in an email, “These are the kinds of officers we all want to hire.”
