Chuck Norris, a martial artist, has become very famous over the years. He even became a synonym for strength and drawn millions of fans from all over the world.
He has black belts in Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu jitsu, and judo. He also started the martial arts style Chun Kuk Do, which is a mix of traditional taekwondo styles like Tang Soo Do and Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo.
He is a big part of Hollywood, but he also has a family and is a father to five kids. Gena O’Kelley, who used to be a model, is his wife. They have been together for over 22 years. But O’Kelley isn’t the only woman in Norris’s life who is important.
The actor, who is 81, is happy to still have his mother with him. Wilma Norris Knight just turned 102 years old, and she has always been very supportive of her oldest son. She was there for him through good times and bad, and he will always be grateful for that.
In a letter to his mom, Chuck says, “Mom, I don’t know which is harder to believe: that you are 102 years old or that you have a son who is 83 years old! No matter what, I’m so glad you’re my mum. I’ve always been. We’ve been through a lot together, and we’re still going strong.”
When Wilma turned 100, her famous son said of her, “Mom has been an example of persistence and hope her whole life. She has also lost two husbands, a stepson, two grandkids, and my younger brother Wieland, who was fighting in the Vietnam War. She’s had cancer more than once and has had about 30 surgeries for different problems, but she’s still here to talk about it.
On The Mike Huckabee Show in 2012, Wilma was asked about her kids. She called Chuck the “defender,” Aaron, Chuck’s brother, her “sunshine,” and Wieland, the youngest and the one who died in Vietnam, her “hero.”
Wilma’s early years were hard. She had to go to school, but she also had to work various jobs, like picking cotton. She lived through the Great Depression. Norris told WorldNetDaily about that time in her life, “When they were done picking one field, they would often move to another town to pick another field. Nothing about life in the Dust Bowl was easy, especially during the Great Depression.
When Wilma was 16, she met Norris’s dad. Unfortunately, he left her after they had three sons together, so she had to raise her children by herself. Norris told the Christian Post, “My mom has been an example of persistence and faith her whole life.”
“During the Vietnam War, she also lost two husbands, a stepson, two grandkids, and my younger brother Wieland. She’s had cancer more than once and has had about 30 surgeries for a wide range of problems, but she’s still here to talk about it.
Norris says that much of his success can be traced back to his mother. “My mother has always prayed for me, through good times and bad,” he said.
“When I was born, things went wrong and I almost died. A few decades ago, when I almost lost my soul to Hollywood, she was at home praying for my success and rescue. She even prayed that I would meet a woman who would make a difference in my life, and it did.”
Chuck Norris has a lot going for him. We’re glad his life is going in the right way, and even though he’s only been getting small roles since 2012, we hope to see him in bigger projects soon.
