There are many reasons why narcissists are hard to deal with. The worst thing about dealing with a narcissist is that when you fall in love with one, you don’t always know what you’re getting into until it’s too late.
Recently, narcissism has been a big word in the news. But it’s not just a word; it’s a real mental problem. This is a personality disorder called narcissistic personality disorder. Some personality disorders can be handled to the point where they go away, but narcissism is not one of them.
Many people with narcissism have an unrealistic view of themselves and don’t know how to deal with other people properly. If someone is a narcissist, they don’t really care about other people unless they serve a reason in their life.
There are different stages you will go through when working with a narcissist. A lot of people found that the narcissist left them for no good reason when they got to the last stage. For most people, this is really painful because most people have feelings, understanding, and really feel things. Narcissists don’t.
You may be wondering why narcissists seem to lose interest in relationships if you’ve ever worked with one. These seven things make it impossible for a narcissist to stay in love.
1. They don’t understand healthy connections.
Narcissists have bad habits when it comes to relationships, so they don’t usually have good connections with other people. For them, other people are just extra parts of themselves that help them out when they need something. They no longer “love” someone when they no longer need them.
2. They have inflated egos.
Narcissists think they are better than they really are. They are sure they are right all the time and think they know everything.
In a relationship, both people must be able to put their feelings aside for the good of the relationship. In a relationship with a narcissist, this isn’t possible, so the relationship will end.
3. They love themselves before anyone else.
Narcissists can’t put their partner’s wants ahead of their own, which is sometimes a part of being in a relationship. Narcissists only care about what’s best for them, and they get going when things get tough.
4. They don’t possess empathy.
Not being able to relate to other people is one of the signs of narcissism. Narcissists don’t care about other people’s wants or feelings, so it doesn’t bother them to get rid of people when they’re no longer useful.
5. They have a never-ending need for praise.
Narcissists need praise more than anything else. They want people to admire them and put them on a platform. Love doesn’t work like that, though.
The spark goes out over time, and regular life takes over. In that case, work needs to be done to keep the friendship going. They don’t want to wait it out because they want to be the center of attention all the time. They don’t stay for long when their steady supply starts to slow down.
6. They have way too high of hopes for them.
People who are narcissists expect too much from others. It’s never enough, no matter what you do. And if you don’t meet these impossible standards, they’ll leave.
7. They are always thirsty for more.
When they are with someone, a narcissist always sees what’s right around the corner. They always think there is more to get, and they jump at the chance to try something new.
